The Globe at Big White has announced its last day will be Apr. 6, but owner Ross Derrick isn't leaving the mountain.

The restaurant opened in 2008 with Derrick as the executive chef before Derrick later bought the business in 2022. Now the 麻豆精选 chef is excited to rebrand The Globe from its internationally inspired dishes into something truly Canadian just in time for the 2025/26 ski season.

"Canadian cuisine isn鈥檛 just tourti猫re and maple syrup鈥攊t鈥檚 the flavours and traditions brought here by generations of immigrants,鈥 said Derrick. 鈥淐anada is a melting pot, and our food is great because of it.鈥

Derrick grew up in a Jewish community in Winnipeg with a Jamaican nanny and a family with Ukrainian, English, Irish, Scottish, Jewish and French Canadian roots. The owner is bringing his heritage to the table to offer guests the full scope of Canada's culinary story.

New menu items include venison, Okanagan apples, perogies, and maple syrup treats.

The rebrand will also feature a Canadian craft beer lounge with rotating selections from some of Canada's best breweries. The wine menu will also be 100 per cent Canadian.

The close the end of an era at The Globe, a fine Apres Party will be held Apr. 6 featuring Jon Bos.

Stay tuned for updates on The Globe's Instagram.

Derrick is also the owner of Broken Anchor and Derrick's Steakhouse in 麻豆精选.
