Sunny's - A Modern Diner in downtown 麻豆精选 has made 14 feature dishes to serve each province and territory for the duration of the Brier.

A popular 麻豆精选 brunch spot welcomed the Brier to town in its own unique way.

Sunny's - A Modern Diner created a dish to represent every province and territory to honour each team taking part in Canada's biggest curling tournament.

"We wanted to be so welcoming to all the curlers that are coming and all the fans so we created 14 features inspired by each of the provinces and territories," said chef de cuisine Robyn Sigurdson. "It's a great way for us to highlight the amazing corners of this beautiful country."

Sigurdson, co-owners chef Rod Butters and Audrey Surrao came up with the idea and created the dishes.

"We've had so much fun creating," added Sigurdson, who added they worked with Illichmann's Meats, Sausages & Gourmet Foods to make the feature meals come to life.

Representing Team BC is a crab and shrimp eggs benedict, for Team Manitoba it's bison chorizo, and Mennonite sausage for the two Saskatchewan teams.

Because of fans who have travelled to 麻豆精选 to watch the Brier, the diner has been busier than normal, Sigurdson added. Most of the teams have also been in to enjoy a meal at the diner.

"It's such a great opportunity to interact with curlers and the fans and they're just the best, I've made so many new friends that keep coming in because they can't wait to see what we're featuring," said Sigurdson, who added as a diner, they're cheering for all teams, not just one.

In regards to the 14 specials, Sigurdson and her team selected two a day to make throughout the duration of the tournament. The two served each day presented a match-up happening at the Brier that day. Of course, as much as they're paying attention to the scores on the ice, Sigurdson said they're keeping track of which meal wins (has more sold) each day. She said the fastest dish to sell out has been meals representing Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

"They've all been really popular," she said.

As for the upcoming playoffs, the situation is fluid for the diner as the staff works to see who will be in the playoffs and then prepare the meals.

"We are working on how that's going to look because we have to plan for the prep for all of those so we are working on that but that's totally top secret," said Sigurdson, who added the tournament has been a great boost to not just 麻豆精选 but the entire Okanagan.

"The curlers are such lovely people, they're so happy to be in the Okanagan," said Sigurdson. "They've been enjoying the community that we have."
