Some volunteer hands are needed to harvest plans for community agriculture.
The BX Swan Lake Community Association is forming a Friends of snc蓹cma艂qtn Agricultural Park committee for the East Vernon Road property.
The park's name, snc蓹cma艂qtn, translates to 'place of small crops or garden.'
Now Friends of the Park are needed to help steer its future.
"We are looking for people that have one or more of the following:" said association president Jeffry Williamson.
鈥� practical hands-on experience related to farming and farm infrastructure
鈥� farm management experience
鈥� an education background
鈥� experience in plant and invasive weed identification
鈥� experience in ecological land stewardship
鈥� a reasonable level of fitness and mobility
鈥� capable of working with farm/garden hand tools
鈥� a strong community spirit
The committee will provide day to day support to the park on-site coordinator, support other community groups and tenants of the park, engage in on site projects, maintenance and supervision, and organize and participate in onsite community events.
It will also advise the snc蓹cma艂qtn (BXR) project working group of the Regional District of North Okanagan on longer term actions, budget priorities and day to day operations.
