CFUZ 92.9 FM is looking to punctuate its continued growth this weekend as it celebrates another year on the air and wraps up celebrating the 2025 Penticton Community Radio Week.

The independent, volunteer-run station is marking six years on the FM dial on Saturday, Feb. 8, with its annual "OnAirversary" fundraiser, and hoping to raise $20,000 in the process.

Funds will go toward Peach City Radio's operations and ongoing expansion 鈥 including doubling studio capacity 鈥 and "creating a new flex room for volunteer collaboration and adding a dedicated transmitter/computer room to enhance broadcast reliability," the station said.

鈥淭he last six years have been an incredible journey of growth, connection, and innovation," said Claire Thompson, president of the station. "OnAirversary is a chance for everyone to join in supporting what we鈥檝e built together.鈥

A live 12-hour broadcast will coincide with this weekend's celebration. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Festivities will proceed after Penticton Mayor Julius Bloomfield proclaimed Feb. 2 to 8, as Penticton Community Radio Week.

Donations in support of Peach City Radio will be accepted all day. People can donate by calling 236-422-0929 or in person at the station, which is located inside the Cannery Trade Centre on Fairview Rd.

In the past, donations for "OnAirversary" have come in from as far as Ontario. A $20,000 fundraiser goal has been set this year.

"OnAirversary is not just a celebration of our station鈥檚 milestones, it鈥檚 a chance for the community to invest in its future," Thompson said.

Guests on Saturday will also be able to tour the studio and meet the volunteers who help bring the station's programming to life, as they make in-person donations.

Donations in support of CFUZ will also be accepted online.

The event marks the station's most significant fundraiser of the year.

"Community radio brings forth the diversity in sounds and voices for people to discover something new and something familiar," said Pierre Davidson, a longtime volunteer at CFUZ 92.9 FM and host of A Progressive Life 鈥 Une Vie Progressive.

People can stream the station's special broadcast here.

On the FM dial, the station can be heard from Oliver to Peachland.

Local businesses have also donated items to help bring together an online auction in support of the station's fundraising efforts. It runs from Feb. 6 to 8.
