A local giveaway in Penticton is helping to feed vulnerable individuals and families across the city.

The Rotary Club of Penticton has launched its Stock the Shelves grocery campaign which will take place on May 2 and 3 at Save-On-Foods, Safeway and IGA Penticton. The community fundraiser will support the Penticton Soupateria and the Starfish Pack Programs, which are both essential food programs for those in need.

The giveaway will see three lucky winners walk away with a cart full of pantry essentials, as well as a $100 grocery gift card to help keep their shelves stocked. Tickets will be available at the three grocery stores over the two-day event.

"We're inviting the entire community to get involved,鈥 said Rotary Club president Karla Ziegler. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an easy way to support local families who are struggling and make a real difference鈥攑lus, who wouldn鈥檛 want a full grocery cart and a gift card?鈥

Every dollar from ticket sales will stay local, as the Penticton Soupateria serves hundreds of free meals each week while the Starfish Pack Program sends weekend food home with school children in need.
