Australian Alphabet of Awesome Science comes to Vernon

Science and words mix for explosive kids show

Science is reaching a new level of awesome as as the ultimate kids series performance of the 2024-25 Spotlight Season takes the stage at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.

All the way from Australia, the award-winning, That Science Gang鈥檚 production of The Alphabet of Awesome Science plays out Wednesday, April 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Join professors Lexi Con (the Word Nerd) and Noel Edge (the Science Freak) for a thrilling voyage through the alphabet 鈥 where great big, 鈥渃hewy sesquipedalian words鈥 inspire mind-blowing scientific surprises.

Together, this 鈥渄ad-joke quipping,鈥 prank-pulling pair of polished professors strut their stuff: It鈥檚 a tongue-twisting race from A to Z-ed that鈥檚 equal parts explosive, messy, hilarious, fascinating and of course 鈥 gross!

Did we mention this is a race? The plucky pair of professors have just one-hour to complete their alphabetical, scientifical countdown 鈥 that鈥檚 just about two minutes per experiment.

And if things weren鈥檛 exciting enough, every performance is completely different, with the audience shouting-out the order of which letters are revealed and experiments explored.

Lexi Con has curated a curious collection of her favourite words, (one for every letter of the alphabet), with each word providing Noel Edge with an inspirational jumping-off point for 26 quirky scientific demonstrations 鈥 that float, fly, squirt, spray, ignite and erupt!

鈥淭his delightfully friendly and dizzingly enthusiastic show is an informative and fun hour for both kids and their parents,鈥 writes Tom Rolph, of Broadway Baby.

The Alphabet of Awesome Science is most suitable for kids ages five o 12 and families, with warnings: 鈥淪ome loud noises, flashing lights, with some smoke and haze special effects.鈥

Tickets are just $12 at the Ticket Seller Box Office at 250-549-SHOW (7469) or online at https://www.ticketseller.ca.
