A three-day celebration of Indigenous culture, dance, and tradition is returning to Penticton's largest venue.
The Pow Wow Between the Lakes is coming back to the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) from July 18 to 20, the Four Seasons Cultural Society announced.
鈥淲e are excited to welcome everyone back to the Pow Wow Between the Lakes," said society director Kristine Jack. "The event has always been about celebrating our culture, strengthening our communities, and sharing traditions, and this year鈥檚 gathering will be especially meaningful."
In remembrance of the late Penticton Indian Band Elder Grace Greyeyes, the event did not proceed in 2024. Grace, who died in 2023, was instrumental in helping shape the annual celebration.
This year's gathering at the SOEC will feature competitive drumming and dancing, cultural demonstrations, and opportunities to experience the traditions and connections of Indigenous people from across the region.
The event is being held in partnership with the City of Penticton.
鈥淧ow Wow Between the Lakes is a vibrant and important celebration that brings people together in the spirit of culture and community,鈥 said Penticton Mayor Julius Bloomfield. 鈥淭he City of Penticton is proud to once again host this incredible event and we welcome all to come and experience the traditions, music, and dance that make it so special."
Tickets for the event are available at the SOEC box office, or valleyfirsttix.com.
