Dazzling live performances of all kinds can be seen in Â鶹¾«Ñ¡'s Cultural District over the next week.

The Living Things International Arts Festival started on Monday, Jan. 20 and runs until Jan. 31, with a various of acts taking place at the Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Art Gallery, the Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Community Theatre, the Rotary Centre for the Arts and the Black Box Theatre.

"The festival brings together a diverse mixture of artists, genres and styles," reads a press release. "Performances range from mask performance to object theatre, from puppetry to interactive installations, music, dance and more."

Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ resident Eliseo Santillan, a Mexican pianist, composer, music producer, and the Living Things communications director thinks the festival brings warmth to town during the cold, winter month of January.

“Having moved to Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ a few years ago, I feel so very blessed to have found a true home here, and a big part of that has been the artistic community," said Santillan. "Coming from a city with a large performing arts scene, it was wonderful for me to discover that there’s so much talent in Â鶹¾«Ñ¡, along with many excellent professional performers who visit our city."

The festival was founded in 2017 by Neil Cadger, who recently retired from being a professor at UBC Okanagan.

“This year’s festival is a striking mixture of audio-visual and theatrical languages: illusions, transformations, live and immersive sound, and, of course, the captivating presence of highly skilled performing artists," said Cadger.

Tickets range from "pay what you can" to $50, and can be found on the Living Things website, along with more information.
