The HIV/AIDS service organization has supported individuals for 32 years

Living Positive Resource Centre started operations in 1992, expanded to serve individuals in the Central Okanagan living with or at risk of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections.

A long standing HIV/AIDS service group in 麻豆精选 is shutting its doors after 32 years.

The Living Positive Resource Centre (LPRC) will shut down on June 28.

The organization started operations in 1992, expanded to serve individuals in the Central Okanagan living with or at risk of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections.

LPRC provides support relating to housing, income, nutrition, health care, substance use and mental wellness.

Board of director wecretary, Melaine Willson, provided a statement to Black Press Media.

鈥淪ince our inception鈥e have been committed to supporting people living with or at risk of blood-borne illnesses and the LGBTQ2S community. Our primary focus during this transition is to ensure that our clients continue to receive the support they need.鈥

The statement does not explain why LPRC is closing its doors, but states it is working with local services to transition harm reduction and client support services. 

鈥淲e want to express our deep gratitude to all our staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who have been with us throughout this journey,鈥 the statement reads. 鈥淵our support has made an immense difference on the lives of many.鈥
