Vernon's Caitie Gingras is moving north to continue her post-secondary basketball career.
The sophomore sharpshooter will be playing the 2025-26 season with the NCAA's Eastern Washington Eagles.
The five-foot-nine-inch guard transferred from the University of California State (CSU) Bakersfield Roadrunners after one season. Gingras averaged 6.6 points per games in 26 minutes per game, while sniping a 37.9 per cent mark from beyond the arc. The Roadrunners had a poor season, finishing with a 2-28 record but Gingras excelled, starting 15 of 16 games to end the year.
Prior to university, Gingras graduated from Edge Prep School in Calgary and was named a national second-team all-start in her sophomore year. In 2022, she led the Vernon Christian School Royals to the B.C. Single A Provincial Champoonships for the first time ever.
The Eagles play out of the Big Sky Conference in Cheney, Washington. They finished with an 11-20 record last season.
