A Ford F350 found fully engulfed in flames near Dartmouth Drive is reportedly being linked to an alleged violent assault that occurred earlier in the evening on Feb. 12.
Shortly after 9 p.m., Penticton RCMP responded to a call of a violent incident that had taken place in the 1100 block of Knight Street. Witnesses told officers that a man had been "violently assaulted" and then hit by a fleeing vehicle.
A 42-year-old Penticton man was taken to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
According to RCMP, following the incident on Knight, officers were alerted to a Ford F-350 on fire in the area of Dartmouth Drive near Grouse Place. Investigators now believe the burning vehicle is connected to the earlier assault.
鈥淭he investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and we want to ensure the public that based on initial findings, there is no immediate risk to public safety,鈥 said Supt. Beth McAndie of the Penticton RCMP.
