Three people were treated for minor smoke inhalation by BC Ambulance following an incident at the 麻豆精选 Downtown Library Parkade, on Sunday (April 7).
麻豆精选 fire crews responded to 1360 Ellis Street, at about 6:30 p.m. after multiple reports of smoke coming from the building.
According to Platoon Captain Scott Clarke, black smoke could be seen coming from a parkade vent at the front of the library as firefighters arrived at the scene.
The blaze was quickly extinguished with very minor damage to the structure.
鈥淭he fire was contained to the vent and did not extend to the parkade under the library,鈥 said Clarke.
No one was transported to hospital and there were no injuries to firefighters, explained Clarke.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The 麻豆精选 Fire Department initially responded with three engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck, one squad and a command unit. BC Ambulance, the City of 麻豆精选 bylaw and RCMP were also on scene to assist.
After residents living along Ellis Street reported the smell of smoke coming from the 麻豆精选 Downtown Library, on Sunday, emergency crews surrounded the building and blocked off a portion of the street.
RCMP, the fire department and BC Ambulance descended on 1380 Ellis at about 7 p.m., April 7.
An area resident told Capital News that they heard sirens and smelled smoke from their balcony.
According to those in the area, smoke could be seen near the library. Firefighters were witnessed opening the doors of the building, after arriving on scene. Fire crews apparently sprayed down an outside section of the building, which later appeared to be charred.

An alarm could be heard coming from the building for almost an hour.
