Sailing is becoming more accessible for everyone in the Okanagan.
People in Motion (PIM), a local charity organization that helps and encourages those with physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities to participate in adaptive initiatives and services, has added a new program under their umbrella.
In partnership with AbleSail Okanagan (ASO), the program is set to make sailing more accessible using unique and adaptive boats for those who want the ability to cruise around Okanagan Lake. The partnership ensures the adaptive sailing program will continue to have the resources to provide quality training and teaching.
鈥淎bleSail Okanagan as a program within People In Motion marks an exciting evolution in our efforts to enhance accessibility and inclusion,鈥 said ASO president Ean Price. 鈥淲e are looking forward to the new opportunities this change will bring to our community.鈥
The ASO programs are underway for the 2024 and available at the 麻豆精选 Yacht Club.
鈥淭his exciting collaboration signifies our commitment to expanding accessible programming and opportunities for individuals of all abilities,鈥 said PIM executive director for 麻豆精选 Louise Abbott. 鈥淔rom skiing to sailing, and everything in between, we are dedicated to empowering diverse communities to thrive and experience the joy of inclusive recreation.鈥
