A non-profit organization of mountain bike loving volunteers who are passionate about helping people enjoy the outdoors are giving businesses, individuals and groups the opportunity to sponsor a trail at the Gillard Network in South 麻豆精选.
The Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan (MTBCO) are a volunteer driven non-profit association dedicated to leading sustainable and inclusive mountain biking opportunities in and around 麻豆精选.
In exchange for the trail sponsorship, MTBCO will place a label featuring the sponsor's logo on the trail head marker and on the parking lot kiosk.
Funds collected through this program will be used to cover to MTBCO鈥檚 operating costs, trail projects and maintenance, and events at Gillard.
Additionally, 15 percent of funds collected from this program will be donated to Westbank First Nation youth programs.
The sponsorship opportunity is available as of March 11, on a first-come, first-served basis.
MTBCO helps manages more than 240 km of trails over three major trail networks around 麻豆精选 at Crawford, Gillard and Knox Mountain. It also manages the trails at West 麻豆精选's Rose Valley and Smith Creek networks and in Lake Country.
There are 36 trails available for sponsorship at Gillard, including the new climb trail, which was years in the making. The Gillard trails were first built in the 90's, during the dawn of freeride mountain biking and after years of land-use disputes are now managed by MTBCO.
The volunteers at MTBCO engage with all levels of government and other trail groups to ensure current trail networks are well-maintained and to expand mountain biking trails in the future. In addition to maintenance and advocacy, the organization hosts social events, group rides for all abilities and trail work days.
