Chamber Music 麻豆精选 (CMK) offers two free concerts in 麻豆精选 and Vernon in April.
Pianist Patricia Tao and cellist Johanne Perron will present a program that includes music by Claude Debussy, Gabriel Faur茅, and Enrique Granados.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 important to find opportunities to bring chamber music into non-traditional venues and to offer broad community exposure to this exciting and accessible repertoire,鈥 said Tao, CMK鈥檚 artistic director.
Tao is Professor Emerita of Music from the University of Alberta, where she taught piano and chamber music for two decades. Following studies in Boston, Indiana, and New York, she performed throughout the US and Europe for ten years.
Perron pursued a Master鈥檚 degree at Yale, followed by studies with Leonard Rose at the Julliard School of Music in New York. She has played with orchestras including the Montreal, Mexico, and Lisbon Symphonies, and presented recitals in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the U.S., and Europe.
The concerts are free on Thursday April 11 at 2 p.m. at UBC Okanagan鈥檚 University Centre Ballroom, and Friday, Apr. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Vernon Trinity United Church.
