Royal Canadian Legion 26 in 麻豆精选 has donated $3,000 to the Central Okanagan Community Foodbank.

The money will be split evenly between the 麻豆精选 and West 麻豆精选 locations.

鈥淲e wanted to designate them鈥e wanted it (the donation) to be in our areas,鈥 said Linda Mitchell, Legion acting president.

She said it鈥檚 important for the Legion to give back to the community.

鈥淲e try and support anyone that needs help and we have a certain amount of money that we can give each year.鈥

The Legion is also in need of some help.

鈥淲e still need some volunteers to go out and do the poppy campaign,鈥 Mitchell added. 鈥淭here are certain spots where we still need volunteers.鈥

Legion branches across the country take part in the poppy campaign and donations are held in trust at the branch level to support veterans and their families within their respective communities.

Poppies are worn every year from the last Friday in Oct. to Nov 11 by millions of Canadians.

Anyone interested in volunteering during the poppy campaign in 麻豆精选 can call 250-762-2961.
