A man who was pulled over by Sicamous RCMP for speeding ended his night in handcuffs after open liquor, drugs, and outstanding warrants were discovered.
The 麻豆精选 resident was allegedly driving 96 km/h on a 60km/h section of Highway 1, near the Monashee Frontage Road, at approximately 11:30p.m. on Feb. 18, when he was pulled over by a member of the Sicamous RCMP.
When the 44-year old man told the Mountie that he did not have a valid license, the officer noticed an open liquor container in the vehicle.
In a press release issued on Feb. 20, Sgt. Murray McNeil said that the officer asked the man provide to a breath sample in a roadside screening device, but he refused and was apprehended for an impaired driving investigation.
It was then discovered that the man had multiple outstanding arrest warrants from the 麻豆精选 RCMP for prohibited driving offences. He was then placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants.
The officer then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a "significant amount of illegal drugs," including 200 grams of cocaine, 40 grams of Fentanyl, and $1070 cash, said Sgt. McNeil
A 90 day Immediate Roadside prohibition was issued to the driver for refusing the breath test and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
The man was held in custody to appear in court on the outstanding arrest warrants.
An investigation into possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking is ongoing.
