Lake Country council to consider large housing development

The development at 11583-11615 Bottom Wood Lake Road proposes 67 apartment units and six town homes

A rezoning application to allow a large housing development near the south end of Wood Lake goes before district council on July 16.

The development (11583-11615 Bottom Wood Lake Rd.) proposes 67 apartment units and six town homes.

鈥淭he application has been expedited by staff as the applicant has agreed to voluntarily enter into a covenant to secure rental housing on the subject properties for a 10-year period,鈥 a staff report to council reads.

It also states that a 2023 assessment of the Bottom Wood Lake and Woodsdale roads intersection indicates it will not require a future roundabout or traffic signal, and growth can be managed with an all-way stop.

However, an assessment may be needed, before a building permit is issued, to determine if intersection improvements may be required.

The report notes the development aligns with council strategic priorities including needed housing and diversification of Lake Country鈥檚 tax base.
