Leadership change at Regional District Central Okanagan Board

Lake Country Mayor Blair Ireland has been acclaimed chair of the Regional District Central Okanagan Board.

His was the only name put forward at the board鈥檚 May 23 meeting, by 麻豆精选 Director Tom Dyas.

鈥淚鈥檓 honoured and thank you for everybody鈥檚 support,鈥 Ireland told his colleagues. 鈥淲hen we started on this board a year and a half ago we talked about being more regional, and I think we鈥檝e got there.鈥

Ireland鈥檚 leadership marks the first time since the mid-seventies that another member municipality, other than 麻豆精选, has chaired the board.

Ireland replaces former chair, Loyal Wooldridge. He voluntarily stepped down in April to pursue provincial politics as the NDP candidate for 麻豆精选-Centre.

Days also introduced new 麻豆精选 directors Luke Stack, Maxine DeHart, and Rick Webber.

They replaced councillors Ron Cannan, Gord Lovegrove, and Mohini Singh.

The move sparked media speculation that they were ousted for expressing opposition to pay raises for 麻豆精选 councillors and the mayor.

West 麻豆精选 Councillor Rick de Jong is also a new addition to the board. He replaces Stephen Johnston who is the BC United candidate for West 麻豆精选-Peachland.
