Peachland residents awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

The honour celebrates Canadians who have made exceptional contributions to their communities, province or country

Peachland residents Barb Dionne and Don Wilson have been honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

A statement from, MP Dan Albas (Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola) noted that Dionne has served Peachland for multiple decades as both an entrepreneur and former municipal councillor. 

She is currently president of the Peachland Historical Society and a member of the team that manages the Peachland Museum and Visitor Centre.

鈥淏arb has been a driving force in our community for decades," said Mayor Patrict Van Minsel. "She has been a dedicated volunteer, entrepreneur, and former Peachland Councillor, continually seeking ways to make our town even better.鈥

Don Wilson has demonstrated exceptional dedication to public safety and local history, the statement said. His career includes service as a volunteer fire chief, an ambulance attendant and more than 25 years on district council. Wilson has also spent three decades as a volunteer at the Peachland Museum.

鈥淒on鈥檚 commitment to Peachland is just as extraordinary," Van Minsel added. "With 30 years as the museum鈥檚 most dedicated volunteer, he has played a crucial role in keeping our history alive."

His career includes service as a volunteer fire chief, an ambulance attendant and more than 25 years on district council.

"The King Charles III Coronation Medal recognizes those who have demonstrated exceptional qualities and contributed to their communities in remarkable ways," Albas said. "Both these recipients exemplify the values of service, dedication, and community building that this prestigious medal represents."
