New Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with all Canadian premiers for the first time in Ottawa Friday (March 21).
The meeting comes about two weeks into Carney assuming the role. Since then, Carney has visited France to meet with President Emmanuel Macron, London to meet with King Charles III, Iqaluit to meet with Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok and Edmonton to meet with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.
Carney also met with Ontario Premier Doug Ford before being sworn in as prime minister.
Carney is also expected to call a federal election Sunday. Several media outlets have reported Carney will ask Gov. Gen. Mary Simon to dissolve parliament and prompt an election.
Canadians could head to the polls April 28 or May 5, as election campaigns have to be at least 37 days but no more than 51. A date has not yet been set.
Parliament has been prorogued since Jan. 6, as MPs are scheduled to return on March 24.
Carney was voted in as Liberal Party of Canada leader on March 10, effectively becoming prime minister.
