1 arrested after RCMP swarm 麻豆精选鈥檚 Orchard Park Mall

There was a report a gun was used in the incident, however, police found that not to be true

UPDATE: 1:51 p.m.

A large RCMP response at Orchard Park Mall was due to someone in possession of a firearm, who might have been threatening others on March 19.

Numerous officers including members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team arrived at the mall almost immediately after the incident was reported at about 12:30 p.m.

Once on scene police determined there was no incident involving a gun.

However, one person was arrested and is being questioned by police along with other witnesses at the scene.

The mall remained open during the incident and shoppers were able to come and go from store to store.

UPDATE: 1:20 pm

Multiple RCMP, along with the Emergency Response Team and BC Ambulance are stationed around Orchard Park Mall.

Police issued a statement to the media asking for the stay away from the area at about 1 p.m.

However, the mall remains open and shoppers are coming and going from the stores.

RCMP are currently on scene for an incident at Orchard Park Mall.

The public is being asked to remain out of the area.

It鈥檚 unclear what the situation is that is unfolding. Capital News has a reporter headed to the scene.
