Gord Erickson is urging local businesses to keep an eye out for each other after experiencing several break-ins at Salmon Arm Waterslides.
Preparing for another splash-filled summer, Erickson and the Salmon Arm Waterslides team said three recent break-ins have "added unexpected challenges to their off-season efforts."
"While the immediate losses have been manageable, the incidents have placed extra strain on a small, tight-knit team that works year-round to prepare for the summer season," reads a Monday, March 31 media release from the business.
Erickson, Salmon Arm Waterslides' owner/operator, said he isn't looking for sympathy or a handout, he just wants to raise "awareness around an issue we know other small businesses in Salmon Arm are also facing."
"We hope everyone can keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report it to the police," said Erickson. "Looking out for one another is what makes Salmon Arm a special community.鈥�
Despite the setbacks, Salmon Arm Waterslides is moving ahead with preparations for its 2025 season, with "a focus on providing the same fun-filled experience families have come to know and love."
"Salmon Arm Waterslides has always been a labour of love,鈥� said Erickson. 鈥淲e do this because we care deeply about creating joyful experiences for families. Like many local businesses, we rely on community support and a safe environment to do that well.鈥�
