Crews in Oliver, Osoyoos respond to house fire off Highway 97

A house fire off Highway 97 in Oliver kept crews in two Okanagan communities busy on Friday, Jan. 24.

The Oliver Fire Department said it responded to a blaze at 4:17 p.m., with smoke and flames showing from the residence.

Members of the Osoyoos Fire Rescue were called for assistance, arriving with one engine and four firefighters about 40 minutes later.

"Aggressive suppression efforts had the fire in mop up and overhaul within the hour," Oliver crews shared in a social media post. They did not share the full extent of damages to the structure.

The cause of the blaze is unknown and no injuries were reported.

"We would like to thank Osoyoos Fire Rescue for sending an Engine company of 4 to assist with overhaul," Oliver's department added in its post.
