Police will always stop for donuts. On Jan. 29, officers apprehended a Salmon Arm resident after catching him doing doing donuts on the road.

At 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 29, a Mountie saw a white Dodge 1500 pickup truck doing donuts in the intersection of 30th Street NE and Highway 1.

"Police conducted a traffic stop and the 19-year-old male driver was observed to have glossy eyes, slurred speech, alcohol on his breath and open liquor in the vehicle," Const. Andew Hodges said in a media release.

A breath demand was conducted and the man flew a "fail" reading and declined his right to a second test. As a result, his vehicle was impounded for 30 days, he was given a 90-day driving prohibition and a ticket for driving without due care.

"The man was also subsequently arrested for being intoxicated in public and too intoxicated to care for himself, and was lodged in cells overnight to sober up."
