Drones used to search for Coldstream man missing for 16 months

Robert Baines, 83, went missing more than a year ago

Attempts to locate a senior man who went missing early last year have taken to the sky.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP confirm drones are being used to look for Robert Lee Baines in Coldstream.

"The family has contracted a private operator to do a search in that area," said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer.

Baines, 83, was last seen on Jan. 2, 2024 at a residence on Ponderosa Way.

An extensive ground search of the area and the nearby Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park took place, along with water searches, with no trace of Baines.

He was last seen wearing a green tilly hat, green jacket, grey undershirt, blue jeans and white hiking shoes.
