The 麻豆精选 RCMP are on patrol on the Okanagan Rail Trail.
The Community Safety Unit is making use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to increase their presence on the trail and other areas difficult to access with a traditional vehicle.
鈥淗ighly maneuverable and able to traverse some of the roughest terrain, ATVs obviously give us the versatility to get into those areas quickly and conduct the necessary enforcement,鈥 says Sgt. Scott Powrie Community Safety Unit Operations NCO. 鈥淎TVs are cost-effective and can be used in a variety of settings, from assisting search and rescue to proactive patrol operations. Our officers are provided specialized ATV training giving them the skills and riding techniques necessary for law enforcement and any other tasks asked of us.鈥
Throughout the summer officers will be seen on foot, bike, and ATVs in areas including downtown, Rutland, and city parks and beaches.
