The hardworking group at Mamas for Mamas has received $100,000 to combat 鈥榠nvisible homelessness鈥� in 麻豆精选.
The children of single mothers experiencing invisible homelessness are clean and go to school, but sometimes sleep without a roof over their heads.
These mothers tuck their kids in for bed in the back of their cars in parking lots or in a tent in a friend鈥檚 backyard, shower at gyms, do laundry at laundromats, and often work multiple jobs.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not for lack of effort, but lack of affordable housing that leads them here,鈥� said Mamas for Mamas in a press release.
Initially the Stober Foundation donated $50,000 to empower mothers, caregivers and children after learning about the prevalence of invisible homelessness.
Then, Brent Marshall and Commercial Business Finders stepped up and pledged an additional $50,000 to help the people of the Central Okanagan. The money will be donated from the company鈥檚 50 per cent commission give back initiative.
Mamas for Mamas will use the funds to provide people in need with the resources that they need to find stability and safety and to combat invisible homelessness.
