A Kamloops man murdered over the weekend is being remembered by friends and co-workers as diligent and quick-witted.
Cody Foster, 26, was killed during an altercation in an RV park in the 9000-block of Dallas Drive, near the BC Wildlife Park. Stephen George Fraser, 56, is in custody facing one count of second-degree murder.
A resident of the RV park who asked to remain anonymous told KTW the victim lived in the park and the murder took place in a trailer.
Police have said they were called to the Kamloops RV Park at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a disturbance.
Once they arrived, police said, they found a group of people holding down Fraser. Foster鈥檚 body was found nearby.
On Sunday, forensic investigators could be seen focusing on an area of the park cordoned off by police tape, adjacent to a washroom building.
Investigators eventually emerged from a trailer as plainclothes detectives and uniformed officers roamed the park speaking to potential witnesses.
Fraser made his first appearance in Kamloops provincial court on Tuesday. His matter was adjourned until next month.
鈥淭he investigation is in its early stages,鈥 Crown prosecutor Joel Gold said in court. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot more of it.鈥
Friends of Foster are remembering him as funny and hard-working.
鈥淗e is going to be dearly missed,鈥 said Mike Adam, Foster鈥檚 manager at Adwood Manufacturing. 鈥淗e鈥檚 one of those guys who, on a bad day, could make you feel a whole lot better.鈥
Adam said his shop is struggling to come to terms with the loss.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a huge shock,鈥 he said.
鈥淗e鈥檚 somebody you expect to see come in to work. He鈥檚 26 years old. You should have a whole lot in front of you at that age.
鈥淗e was certainly one of our hardest working guys, and an exceptionally nice guy from my perspective as the boss. He always had a joke, a smile and was liked by everyone.
鈥淗e will be missed.鈥
Friend and former co-worker Rocker Brady said he remembers Foster as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed a good conversation.
鈥淗e used to try to invite me out fishing and stuff,鈥 Brady said. 鈥淗e was an outdoors person, and he was not the kind of person who was afraid to spark up a conversation and be the centre of attention 鈥 in a good way.鈥
Fraser remains in custody and is due back in court on March 2. In the meantime, he is prohibited from having any contact with a number of his friends.
