A vehicle that was suspected to have been used in at least one of two drive-by shootings in a month at a known problem home in Penticton was recovered by RCMP.
Shots were reported on Feb. 10 at the residence in the 400 block of Winnipeg Street shortly before 10 a.m., with RCMP responding immediately to find no one injured according to a police press release.
An update issued by the police on Feb. 13, announced that the vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting was found and seized.
鈥淪pecialized teams, with the support of the South East District Emergency Response Unit, were able to locate and seize the crime vehicle connected to this week鈥檚 shooting,鈥 said Cpl. Rebecca Frazier of the Penticton RCMP Serious Crimes Unit. 鈥淥fficers continue to work tirelessly to pursue multiple investigative avenues in an effort to identify those responsible for this brazen act of violence.鈥
Investigators urge anyone who witnessed any part of the incident or was in the area around the time with dash-cam footage to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
The shooting is believed to have been targeted at a "known problem property." According to the press release, the RCMP are vigilantly monitoring the activities associated with the property following the shootings.
The RCMP are also working together on the property with the city's Public Safety Teams Property Standards Compliance Team (PSCUT), which formed at the end of January.
The group brings together the RCMP, City of Penticton Fire Department, Bylaw Services, and Development Services to address properties that have proven long-term issues where traditional methods of handling have not made improvements.
