The 麻豆精选 RCMP have confirmed it was a teenager who was struck by a vehicle on Thursday, Oct. 5.
Around 12:15 p.m., the RCMP received calls about a pedestrian struck at the intersection of K.L.O. Road and Benvoulin Road. The pedestrian, a 16-year-old high school student, was struck when he was jay-walking across Benvoulin with his friends.
The teenager was able to get up and walk to the sidewalk to rejoin his friends.
The vehicle鈥檚 windshield suffered some damage but the driver remained on scene and was cooperative. While the teenager was shaken up upon getting to the sidewalk, his dad attended the scene and took him to 麻豆精选 General Hospital where he received stitches but has no other injuries.
There will be no charges against the driver, according to the RCMP.
It鈥檚 unknown if the student is from 麻豆精选 Christian School and Immaculata Regional High School, which are both in the area where the incident took place.
While traffic was backing up southbound on Benvoulin as the fire department attended the scene, a two-vehicle crash happened in front of the 麻豆精选 Christian School. Another fire truck and more RCMP officers attended the scene.
No one was injured in the crash, however, one vehicle was towed away.
