A Vernon agency that supports people experiencing homelessness is hosting a community clean-up event throughout the city's supportive housing neighbourhood Wednesday.
Turning Points Collaborative Society is holding its second annual Community Clean-Up from 1-4 p.m. March 19.
The event is billed as an opportunity for Turning Points staff to come together with residents and neighbours to care for the community.
The clean-up is focusing on an area that spans from the emergency shelter on 37th Street, past nearby supportive housing and over to the Turning Points offices and Polson Supportive Housing.
A community barbecue will be held following the clean-up, from 3-5 p.m.
Those wanting to take part in the initiative can head to My Place Supportive Housing at 2610 35th St., before the event gets underway at 1 p.m. Gloves and trash bags will be provided to participants.
Below is a map of the clean-up route. Turning Points staff will be scattered throughout this route during the clean-up hours.
