To the editor:
I agree that the parking lot at the foot of Queensway on our downtown waterfront is terrible use of such beautiful open space and lake views.
Parking was probably a good use many years ago when the town was much smaller and residents would launch their boats and park for the day.
Today, and now that downtown is vibrant with new construction and increasing density, 颈迟鈥檚 high time to transform that stretch of waterfront so that everyone can enjoy the natural beauty it beholds.
Plopping a large building there to facilitate handing out tourism brochures is just not right, nor is it necessary for 碍别濒辞飞苍补鈥檚 tourism to grow.
With the benefit of hindsight, and despite there also being other suitable locations nearby, perhaps the earlier plan to locate it along Abbott Street where City Park is, would be a much better choice.
I would be delighted if city council would reconsider this location.
滨迟鈥檚 been a difficult process and yet 颈迟鈥檚 not too late to reconsider.
Supposedly, that is why there is a public hearing this coming January [Jan. 24].
麻豆精选 is destined to become a large and vibrant city.
I hope that our residents will attend the hearing while council carefully makes a decision that will benefit all of 麻豆精选 for generations to come.
