Spots to compete at the World Cup could be up for grabs when 130 skiers from around the world hit the Apex Mountain slopes later this month.
The NorAm Cup Moguls Event runs at the Apex Mountain Resort, located 45 minutes west of Penticton, from Feb. 15 to 18.
Featuring 100 athletes from the U.S. and Canada — and an additional 30 from the rest of the world — the annual competition is designed to prepare skiers for the World Cup circuit.
The event will take place on Apex Mountain’s four-lane mogul run, with seven international judges set to evaluate skiers on turns, speed and air.
Winners of the NorAm Tour may earn a spot on national World Cup teams for the following season, event organizers said.
The competition will consist of the following:
• Feb. 15- Course development
• Feb. 16- Practice
• Feb. 17- Single moguls competition
• Feb 18- Duals moguls competition
All events are free to watch and people are invited to come out and cheer on Grady Parsons, an Apex Freestyle Club alumni who will be joined by other club athletes in performing forerunner duties.
The duals moguls competition is a five-minute walk up from the village and accessible via the T-bar with a lift pass. It will serve as one of the weekend’s headline events on Feb. 18.
