A full day of metal mayhem was in the cards on Thanksgiving Sunday, Oct. 8 in Armstrong.
The annual Armstrong Demolition Derby took place at the Interior Provincial Exhibition Fair Grounds. It was one of the highlights of the 23rd annual Harvest Pumpkin Festival.
Dozens of cars, trucks and mini cars took place in the exciting Derby, where the goal was to be the last vehicle standing.
Despite a flag person taking a tumble during the big car grudge event, no major injuries occurred.
A highlight was a massive head-on collision between the #5 car, Tristan Schwandt, and #27 Owen Barker. Schwandt鈥檚 car was smoking as a result of the hit and the event needed to be stopped temporarily. Luckily he was able to shake it off and walk away unscathed.
Prizes were given out not just for performances, but for how much damage vehicles sustained, the best dressed paint job and many more.
