The North Okanagan Knights’ streak of futility has continued, with the KIJHL club dropping their fifth and sixth consecutive games.

The Knights were in Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ to battle the Chiefs Thursday, Oct. 19. In a battle of the defences, the Knights got on the board first, with Nolan Kelly’s first of the year with just a minute left in the first.

After a scoreless middle frame, Aiden Cotroneo tied things up for Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ with his first of the season, 7:49 into the third.

Despite being out shot 30 to 19, the Knights would force a shootout, off the back of goaltender Josh Hager and his 29 saves.

Just one goal was needed in the shootout, with Austen Rayburn burying one, as the Chiefs won 2-1.

Two nights later, North Okanagan was back at home to play rival Princeton Posse.

The visitors scored first on the man advantage, with Bryton Morrow’s fifth of the year. The Knights would respond with two quick goals, from leading scorers Gage Parrell and Cash Anderson.

In the middle period, Anmol Garcha evened the game with his sixth of the season, as the Posse fired 20 shots on net, to just three from the Knights in the frame.

Jonathan Ward’s third of the year halfway through the third gave the visitors a lead. But, with just a minute left, Parrell’s second of the night on the power play would send the game to an extra frame.

After a scoreless OT period, the Knights would be back in a shootout. A similar fate befell the squad, as goals from the Posse’s Jace Shuttleworth and Garcha clinched the 4-3 win for the visitors.

Knights’ Josh Hager was solid again in net, stopping 41 shots, but was tabbed with his second straight loss. North Okanagan is now 3-8-0-2 on the year, still in a tie for second in the Bill Olhausen Division with eight points.

A home bout with the Spokane Braves is next up for the Knights, on Friday, Oct. 27. Puck drop is at 7:15 p.m.
