Banner back in Sicamous 1st time in 11 years after U11 minor hockey win

The young Eagles went undefeated to win regular season

For the first time in just over a decade the Sicamous Minor Hockey Eagles brought the banner home after going undefeated to win the 2024/25 regular season.

On Monday, March 3 at the older Sicamous Eagles' playoff game against the Princeton Posse, the U11 team was presented with a trophy and the iconic banner.

"This banner has not been in Sicamous' hands since 11 years, so it's a pretty big deal," Sicamous Minor Hockey media director Nicole Albisser said, adding that the "special handover" was done in front of a full stand with Mayor Colleen Anderson also present.

Following the regular season, the team went on to the playoffs in which they play the final game tonight, March 5 in Salmon Arm. If they win this round of the OMAHA Super League, it will be another historic moment as that banner hasn't been won locally in almost 20 years.

If victorious tonight, the team will then be heading to the District Championships that will be held in Clearwater mid-March.
