UBC Okanagan (UBCO) Heat golfer Emily Cornwall captured the individual title at the RCM Intercollegiate in Lake Las Vegas last week.
Cornwall, a fourth-year player from Calgary, carded a two-over-par 218 across three rounds at Reflection Bay Golf Club. She finished three shots ahead of UBC’s Grace Bell to claim her fourth individual title as a member of the Heat. Cornwall’s dominant performance also put her 10 strokes clear of third-place finisher Hannah Ulibarri from Master’s University.
Over two days of competition, Cornwall racked up 11 birdies. She scored an even-par 72 in both the first and third rounds, with a two-over 74 in round two keeping her at the top of the leaderboard.
Her efforts also helped drive UBCO to a third-place showing in the team standings, with the Heat finishing at 96-over-par 960. They trailed only their UBC counterparts, who took the team title, and Oregon Tech, which claimed second place.
Teammate Lauren Nedo also cracked the Top 10, finishing eighth overall with a 17-over-par 233.
The Heat and are back on Nevada later this week for the Vegas Warrior Invitational at Wildhorse Golf Club, set for March 14-15.
