Fans of the Penticton Silver Bullets will have to wait until Nov. 24, to see the team鈥檚 official home opener at Memorial Arena.

But the revived independent hockey franchise will still appear on the ice locally before then, as Lumby Lumberjacks visit the South Okanagan Events Centre this Sunday, Nov. 19.

Set to be the third game of the 2023-2024 senior men鈥檚 AA season for both teams, Sunday鈥檚 showdown was originally scheduled to take place in the North Okanagan.

Matthew Fraser, the Silver Bullets captain, says it will now be played at the SOEC as a neutral-site game.

鈥淚t should be a fun evening, and we鈥檙e looking forward to playing in Penticton,鈥 Fraser said.

Colton Gillies, who played for the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets from 2008 to 2013, will be among those to suit up for Penticton鈥檚 squad.

Puck drop is at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.

鈥淚t makes a world of difference when people are there supporting us,鈥 Fraser said.

The Silver Bullets started the season in Powell River, splitting a two-game set on the Sunshine Coast on Oct. 20 and 21.

Penticton plays in a division with the Powell River Regals, Rossland Warriors and Lumby.

Other players to keep an eye on this weekend include Jagger Dirk, a former Vancouver Canucks farmhand, as well as Mitch MacMillan, Archie McKinnon, Connor Potter and past member of the Penticton Vees James Miller.

The Silver Bullets will host Powell River for their official home-opening games on Nov. 24 and 25, before staying at Memorial Arena for showdowns with Rossland on Dec. 2 and 3.

Penticton will meet Lumby again on Dec. 9, this time for fans in the Similkameen. The team will play at the Princeton Posse鈥檚 home arena.

The Silver Bullets are vying to win BC Hockey鈥檚 Coy Cup, a prestigious trophy distributed to the province鈥檚 best independent team every spring.
