Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Trey Taylor has been named an ECAC First-Team All-Star with the Clarkson Golden Knights in NCAA Div. 1 play.

A former Vernon Vipers stalwart on defence has earned a collegiate hockey honour.

Trey Taylor, who is a junior with the Clarkson Golden Knights, an NCAA Div. 1 club in Potsdam, NY, was named to ECAC Hockey's First-Team All-Conference squad. He's joined by teammate Ethan Langenegger, former goalie with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Taylor, 23, from Richmond, has eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points as he has helped lead the Golden Knights to the ECAC Hockey conference semifinals against the Dartmouth Big Green.

Taylor played three seasons for the Vipers, 2018-2021, before heading to the United States Hockey League and the Youngstown Phantoms for his final year of junior.

He is one of 29 B.C. Hockey League alumni named to year-end conference all-star teams.

Taylor's younger brother, Tate, is a freshman with Clarkson, and was named to the Conference's All-Rookie Team. Tate played in the BCHL with the Surrey Eagles.

Older brother Ty Taylor was a Vipers goalie from 2016-18. He played three seasons at the University of New Hampshire, and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightnight. He is currently playing professionally with the Evansville Bolts of the SPHL (formerly called Southern Professional Hockey League).
