The KIJHL's best Princeton Posse was too much for the 麻豆精选 Chiefs to handle on Friday night, Feb. 7.

In a back-and-forth game, the Posse came out with the 5-3 win. And unfortunately for the Chiefs, they has been eliminated from playoff contention.

After a scoreless first period, Chiefs' Aiden Morcom got the scoring started with his 16th of the season, assisted by Owen Ivanov.

But Princeton quickly responded as Jackson Gush scored his sixth of the season, following by Carson Hebert's 10th of the year just 1:30 later to give the Posse the 2-1 lead. Gush's goal was helped by Brayden Sumner while Hebert's marker was assisted by Brennan Watterson and Bryton Morrow.

Just 21 seconds into the third stanza, Hebert potted his second goal of the game, 11th of the year to make it 3-1. Watterson and Jeffrey Stewart assisted the goal.

The Chiefs showed some fight as Matt Fraser scored back-to-back powerplay goals to knot the game 3-3. His first goal came unassisted at the 6:09 mark while his second occurred at the 10:20 mark, assisted by Ivanov and Morcom.

However, the tied game was short-lived as Sumner scored his seventh goal of the season just 1:26 after Fraser's second goal to regain Princeton's lead.

With 32 seconds to go in regulation, Posse's Johnathan Ward added an empty net goal to seal the game.

Michael Makowsky made 34 saves in the loss for 麻豆精选 while Princeton's Blake Sittler made 24 saves in the win.

The win was the Posse's 30th victory of the season as they are now 30-6-3-1. The Chiefs are 15-20-1-3.

麻豆精选 returns to Rutland Arena on Saturday night to welcome the Merritt Centennials to town. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Princeton doesn't play again until Tuesday, Feb. 11, also against Merritt.
