麻豆精选鈥檚 Jerome Blake broke a Canada Summer Games record, but it wasn鈥檛 quite good enough for the gold medal.
The Rutland Senior Secondary grad was edged out in the 100 metre final out by the slimmest of margains鈥�0.002 seconds鈥攂y Ontario鈥檚 Karson Kowalchuk in a photo finish. Both runners were clocked at 10.38 seconds.
Still, Blake nosed out Kowalchuk earlier in the week in the 200 metre final in 20.87 seconds to win the gold medal
Blake鈥檚 third medal of the games, a gold, in the men鈥檚 4x400 relay.
The 麻豆精选 athlete was thrilled to once again wear B.C. colours on the national stage.
鈥淚t鈥檚 always a pleasure to represent my province,鈥� Blake said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always a joy for me to come out here and represent B.C. Everyone from BC is like family. They support each other no matter what.
Blake also enjoyed the experience of interacting with the people of Winnipeg.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been great,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a pleasure being here. The city of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba have hosted us very well. All of these volunteers leave their homes and families to come out here and help us out.鈥�
