Penticton’s Jeff Symonds takes top spot in Blossom 13K

The Peach City Runners competition saw 109 athletes come out to race

Penticton’s hometown top triathlete was back in top form for the Peach City Runners’ Blossom 13K.

The race saw Jeff Symonds and 108 other runners compete in the event formerly known as the Blossom 10 Miler on May 14.

The Blossom 13K is one of nine competitions that are part of the Interior Road Race Running Series for 2023.

Symonds finished first in his hometown race with a time of 43:46.

The 2022 Ironman in Penticton saw Symonds complete the 226-kilometre triathlon in 8:38:02.

Kelown’s Ian Sharp finished second place in the Blossom 13K with a time of 44:46.

The top female finisher was Lauren Prufer of Caledon, Ont., with a time of 51:03. Second place for the women went to Nicole Lacis of Vancouver, who finished with a time of 51:19.

The Interior Road Race Running Series continues with the Blackwell Dairy 15K on May 27th in Kamloops.
