Opening weekend of the World Cup ski cross season didn't yield a podium finish, but the vital signs all looked positive for Kelsey Serwa.

The 27-year-old from 麻豆精选 narrowly missed out on the medals on Saturday, finishing fourth in the second race race of the season in Val Thorens, France.

The 2016 X-Games champ and 2014 Olympic silver medalist, Serwa was in good form in the semifinals, executing a textbook pass to qualify for the big final.

In the final, Serwa placed fourth behind the Swedish duo of Anna Holmlund and Sandra Naeslund, and Germany鈥檚 Daniela Maier finishing in third-place.

On Friday, in the first race of the season, Serwa placed eighth overall.

麻豆精选's Ned Ireland who qualified for World Cup events for the first time, competed in both men's races in Val Thorens, placing 24th on Friday and 31st on Sunday.

Ireland, 22, competed last season on the NorAm ski cross circuit.

The Canadian team next heads to Switzerland for a World Cup race on Tuesday.
