The 麻豆精选 Rockets will try and bring their four-game losing streak to an end this weekend against two tough opponents.
On Friday night (Jan. 31), they welcome the WHL's top team in the 34-7-4-3 Everett Silvertips to Prospera Place. The following night, the Swift Current Broncos (24-19-1-1) swing into town.
So far this season, the Rockets are winless against Everett, having only collected a single point - 0-2-1-0. Meanwhile, Saturday night's contest is the first match-up between 麻豆精选 and Swift Current since Oct. 18, 2023, a 6-3 win for the Rockets.
Going into the weekend, 麻豆精选 sits 10th in the Western Conference at 16-23-4-1.
Friday's puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday's is at 6:05 p.m.
West 麻豆精选 Warriors
Road trip! The West 麻豆精选 Warriors are Alberta-bound this weekend to take on the Sherwood Park Crusaders and the Spruce Grove Saints on Friday and Saturday.
After winning four games in a row, the Crusaders ended the Warriors streak last Saturday, Jan. 25, beating them 5-3.
With a couple wins this weekend, West 麻豆精选 has a chance to tighten the BCHL's Interior Conference. They currently sit seventh with a record of 14-16-5-2, three spots behind the Crusaders who are 23-13-0-0. Spruce Grove is two spots behind West 麻豆精选 - 14-19-4-0.
Being in Alberta, both games are at 7 p.m. Mountain, 6 p.m. Pacific.
麻豆精选 Chiefs
The local KIJHL is also hitting the road this weekend as the Chiefs take on the Nelson Leafs on Friday and the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday.
Despite remaining fifth in the Bill Ohlhausen Division with a record of 14-17-1-3, 麻豆精选 started to find their footing in 2025 as they are 5-1-1 in January.
Castlegar (13-15-4-30 and Nelson (14-21-1-1) sit fourth and fifth respectively in the Neil Murdoch Division.
Puck drop both nights is at 7 p.m.
UBCO Heat
It's a massive weekend for the UBCO Heat as they are vying for the Presidents' Cup, hosting kids from around 麻豆精选, and raising money for cancer research.
In basketball action at the UBCO gym, the Heat's men's and women's teams host the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the men's team tip off at 1 p.m., it's a School Game Day, meaning more than 800 elementary and middle school students will be taking the afternoon off to attend the game. The women's game is set for 5 p.m. and it's the Shoot for a Cure game, where the Heat will be raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society. As of Thursday afternoon, the women's team has raised $1,135 and have a goal of $1,500. Those interested in contributing can donate here.
The next day, men's basketball is set for 11 a.m. and the women at 3 p.m.
In these four match-ups, the Heat's men's and women's team each need a win to win this year's Presidents' Cup, which is an annual competition between the two schools. UBCO has won three the trophy three years in a row.
Meanwhile, the UBCO Heat's men's and women's volleyball teams are on the road in Saskatchewan.
