Vernon snowshoer takes bronze at Special Olympics World Games

Vernon's Danielle Pechet represented Canada to compete in snowshoeing at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, March 8-15.

Danielle Pechet is coming home from the Special Olympics World Games in Turin, Italy with a bronze medal around her neck. 

The Vernon snowshoer finished third in the F03 women's 400m snowshoe race Saturday, March 15. 

Team Canada swept the podium in the race, with Audrey Larose-Rapin winning gold and Jennifer Riddell securing silver. 

The results were unofficial as of Saturday afternoon, so the athletes' times were not listed. 

Pechet, 34, also competed in the F01 women's 4 x 100m snowshoe relay, where her Canadian team placed fourth with a time of 1:41:06. Another Canadian team won the event with a timer of 1:23:83.
