The Sherwood Park Crusaders continue to have the Vernon Vipers number this year.
The Crusaders beat up on the Vipers, 7-3 on Saturday night, for their fourth win against Vernon this BCHL season.
Jeremy Loranger's 38th goal of the season kicked off the scoring five minutes into the game for the hometown Crusaders on their teddy bear toss night. Vernon would respond in the second, with goals from Luc Bydal and Michael Munroe to go up 2-1 halfway through the frame.
Sherwood Park then pressurized the Vipers defence, scoring three straight to end the period off the sticks of Poul Andersen, Connor Gengle, and Loranger.
Maxime Ly, Andersen and Fleece padded Sherwood Park's lead in the early third to cruise to the 7-3 victory. Daniil Dolzhenko scored the other Vipers' goal late in the third.
Jari Kykkanen made 33 saves for his 13th loss of the year, while Crusaders goalie Spencer Michnik's 27 stops gave him his ninth victory of the season.
With the win, the Crusaders (32-19-1) stay fifth in the Interior Conference, two points back of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for fourth.
The Vipers (15-31-6) have two games left in their season, both at home. Trail will come to Kal Tire Place on Friday, March 28, before the finale against the Cranbrook Bucks on Saturday.
