The West 麻豆精选 Warriors returned home with a split in their BCHL first-round playoff series against the Brooks Bandits after suffering a 8-2 loss in Alberta, on Saturday, April 5.
The best-of-seven series is now tied 1-1 as the teams prepare for the next two games in West 麻豆精选.
The Bandits wasted no time in taking control, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening period. Just 26 seconds into the game, Caden Drury (1) opened the scoring, followed by goals from Cooper Pierson (2), Mathis Dufour (1), and Luke Bibby (1). Logan Flint (1) briefly halted the Bandits' momentum, scoring for the Warriors with 30 seconds left in the period to make it 4-1.
The Warriors made a goaltender change at 11:58 of the first period, with Edouard Gauthier replaced by Bor Glavic. He saved a penalty shot from Brooks near the end of the period.
West 麻豆精选's Jackson Kyrkostas (1) scored just over a minute into the second frame, narrowing the gap to 4-2. However, the Bandits netted another four unanswered goals from Jack Rosensteel (1), Jack Good (1), Michal Liscinsky (1), and Bibby, who added his second of the night.
The Warriors were outshot 36-22 and went 0-3 on the power play. The Bandits capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice on five power-play chances.
The next two games of the series will take place at Royal LePage Place in West 麻豆精选 on Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9.
