After heartbreaking back to back losses to Salmon Arm last weekend, the West 麻豆精选 Warriors look to reestablish some wins with their upcoming three game road trip starting Feb. 8. The first game of the road trip will be a tough match-up against the BCHL鈥檚 number one team, the Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Warriors last played the Chiefs in October and suffered a 5-1 loss. Warriors assistant coach Matt Miller wants to build momentum for the road trip with a good showing against the Chiefs.
鈥淐hilliwack is one of the best teams in our league and are tough to beat at home. They play with speed and like to control the pace of play,鈥� said Miller. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the way we play as a team too so I think that can play to our advantage and if we are playing with speed like we know we can, we have a chance at starting this road trip off in the right foot.鈥�

The Warriors didn鈥檛 play as a unit in the back to back losses to Salmon Arm last weekend. The Warriors lost 5-1 in the first game, then gave up a 3-0 lead Saturday night to be stunned in a 6-3 loss. Miller said the Warriors had plenty to work on in their almost week off.
鈥淲e focused on getting back to our systems and what made us successful for the first half of the game on Saturday. We started to play a long game and trying to stretch the play and not supporting each other in all three zones. This week our teams focus at practise is playing as a whole unit of five.鈥�
With only eight games left in the BCHL season before playoffs, the Warriors sit in sixth place in the Interior division. They return to home ice Feb. 16 with a crucial match up with Vernon.
