The West 麻豆精选 Warriors offence continues to click as they split their two games over the long weekend.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, Elias Callgren and Tyler Grahme each scored twice on route to a 6-1 win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs at Royal LePage Place.
Callgen's first period marker was his seventh of the season and only goal of the frame despite the Warriors out-shooting Blackfalds 19-3. Joey Macrina and Philip Monnich Hagen assisted on the goal.
The second period is where the Warriors putting the game away, scoring four goals to make it 5-0, starting with Sam LeDrew's team-leading 20th goal of the season just 2:09 into the frame. The goal was helped by Jackson Kyrkostas and Hudson Miller.
Callgren's second of the game, eighth of the year came at the 6:59 mark and was assisted by Simon Houge and Macrina.
Axel Lofgren and Grahme each reached double digits on the season with their 10th goals.
Early in the third, Grahme added his second of the game on the pwerplay to make it 6-0.
The Bulldogs added a powerplay goal of their own late in the third period.
Bor Glavi膷 made 21 saves in the win for the Warriors.
But on Monday afternoon, the Warriors travelled down Highway 97 and fell 5-4 to the Penticton Vees.
The Vees showed why they're the number one team in the BCHL as they scored three goals from Max Heise (22), Eli McKamey (10), and Michael Fisher (2) in the first 7:15 of the game.
At the 11:22 mark of the frame, Callgren found the back of the net, assisted by Lofgren and Miller to get the Warriors on the board.
The lone goal of the second period came off the stick of West 麻豆精选 forward Ian Alonso, who made it a one-goal game. Macrina and Houge assisted on Alonso's eighth of the campaign.
Caden Kemkaran-Humble tied for the game early in the third period, scoring his fourth of the season. However, the tie didn't last long as Ben Merrill responded for the Penticton three minutes later.
With about three and a half minutes to go, the Vees regained their two-goal lead when Ryden Evers scored his 18th of the year.
Callgren scored his second goal of the game with 73 seconds left to go in regulation but that's as close as the Warriors would come.
Glavi膷 made 20 saves in the loss.
With the split, the Warriors are now 17-19-5-2 on the season, sitting seventh in the BCHL's Interior Conference.
West 麻豆精选 is back in action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22 as they welcome the Cranbrook Bucks (23-15-2-0) and the Penticton Vees (32-7-4-0) to Royal LePage Place. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. both nights.
Saturday night's contest is also the fourth annual Feed The Valley night, in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank. All cash and non-perishable food doantions will go right to the food bank and anyone who donates is eligible into a draw to win prizes.
